Responsibilities
- Optimize PostgreSQL query execution plans, vacuuming schedules, and connection pooling.
- Design disaster recovery protocols and verify automated backups that actually restore successfully.
- Politely decline requests from analytics teams who want direct root read/write access to production.
Requirements
- 5+ years administering high-volume PostgreSQL and MySQL clusters in production.
- Expert knowledge of EXPLAIN ANALYZE, B-tree/GIN indexes, and WAL replication mechanisms.
- Proven ability to speak softly while carrying a massive automated failover script.
